Speaking today Mike Graham, Chair of We Are The Rovers said:
“This is a positive move. The fact that this Bill has cross party support will ensure the Bill becomes legislation. However the devil is in the detail and We Are The Rovers will scrutinise every word of the Bill and we will lobby MP’s to help ensure that the independent regulator has real powers including direct intervention when football club owners act in unscrupulous ways to the detriment of clubs and supporters. In terms of Blackburn Rovers the We Are The Rovers Supporters Trust view the Bill as putting fans at the forefront of decision making on off-field matters; it is important that the voice of the fans is heard and this is the key role for our Trust going forward.”
Mike Graham added:
“Thankfully at Blackburn Rovers we already have an established relationship with the Club via a Memorandum of Understanding; we are seeking to expand this further and involve other formally established supporters groups. Our next meeting with Chief Executive Steve Waggott and his colleagues is on Wednesday 27th March when we will be discussing a range of matters including club finances and matters relating to the 2024/25 season “.
